How to Disable Auto Update Software on HomePod: Save Data

And so in the HomePod, we can turn off the auto-update feature. When Apple releases any new update for HomePod, it will install the new version automatically if you have turned on the auto-update.

In case the auto-update is disabled you will need to check for updates manually in your iPhone/iPad on the Home app.

Let’s check how we can disable auto software update

1 Homepod Software Update enable and Disable

  • Step 1: Launch the “Home” app.
  • Step 2: On the top left corner, tap on a small arrow.
  • Step 3: There click on “Software Update” and “Install Updates automatically disable” it.

If in case your mind changes and you want to enable auto-update then follow the same above steps.

Since you’ve turned off the auto-update, the updates will not get installed automatically. For installation, you need to check for updates manually.

Step 1: Go to the “Home” app.

Step 2: Click on the small arrow on the upper left of the screen.

Step 3: Hit the “Software Update” to check new updates. here you will see all HomePods setup in your Home. Let’s Quickly start to update HomePod.

If you have more than one HomePod in different rooms then just like above you can change the update settings.

  • Step 1: Launch the “Home” app.
  • Step 2: Click on the small arrow.
  • Step 3: Tap on “Home Settings”.
  • Step 4: And there check for “Software Updates”.
