FaceTime Green Screen on iPad, iPhone, or Mac; Fix

Is your FaceTime Call Turn Green? There are plenty of reasons why FaceTime is showing a green screen on iPhone, iPad, and Mac during the calls or while placing calls. For example, FaceTime Green Screen Flickering or you can’t see another person during FaceTime Call, and so on, many Apple users have reported problems. And ultimately, you cannot connect with anyone over FaceTime calls. 1. Is FaceTime Down?

While FaceTime is down, there is no way one can get hands-on FaceTime to make calls. So first, visit the Apple Support Status Page to verify FaceTime is up and working correctly. Then, find FaceTime, and if there’s a Green Symbol with Available status, FaceTime is working else; it might be down. Wait for few minutes and recheck; if it is down, else move to the next solution.

2. Check Internet Connection

To use FaceTime, the internet connection must be stable and with sufficient bandwidth. In case of bad internet connectivity, FaceTime might show a green screen while connecting calls.

Are you using Cellular Data or Wi-Fi? If Wi-Fi, then make sure to stay closer to Router Modem; also, you can troubleshoot the router by rebooting it. Whereas Cellular Data needs full network strength, check the signal bars at the top of the screen.

Alternatively, toggle Airplane Mode on iPhone and iPad to resolve connection-oriented issues on the go. Airplane Mode can be accessed from the Settings app as well as it is available in Control Center.

3. Is FaceTime Available in Your Region?

FaceTime is limited to certain regions only; not available worldwide. You can check the Apple Page to know which Carriers and Countries/Regions for FaceTime availability. Often it happens that you’re placing FaceTime Call to a user where FaceTime is not yet available. Make sure it’s not what you’re doing.

4. Make Sure Camera is Working

You can determine the Camera is functioning or not by using the Camera App or Skype or Zoom Meetings App, or any app that uses Camera. If you see a Green screen while using any other app, the camera needs to be repaired; it seems to be a hardware fault.

5. Disable and Re-enable FaceTime

In iOS and iPadOS devices, FaceTime can be disabled, just in case if you don’t want to use it. But, of course, when FaceTime is disabled, it won’t work and show a green screen or won’t open at all.

In iPhone/iPad:

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap FaceTime.
  3. Toggle On FaceTime.
  4. If it is already turned on, then turn off FaceTime, restart the iPhone, and re-enable FaceTime.

In Mac:

  1. Launch FaceTime.
  2. Click on Preferences.
  3. Turn On FaceTime.
  4. Already turned On? Disable it and re-enable it.

6. Force Restart Device

Haven’t rebooted the device? Please do it now. Restarting the device will refresh the system while closing all the programs and applications running in the background. In addition, it might do the trick to fix the Green Screen on FaceTime issue with iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

  • To Restart iPhone, iPad: Press and hold the Power button until the POWER OFF slider appears, drag the slider, and turn off the device. After 2-3 minutes, press the Power button to turn on the device. or Go to the Settings > General > Scroll to Shut Down Option > Slide to Power off.
  • To Restart Mac: Click on the Apple menu > Restart.

7. Update iPhone, iPad, Mac

Not to mention, the newer updates bring bug fixes, system improvements, and many more things that you could find useful. Therefore, it’s better to turn on Automatic Updates for whichever Apple device you own or manually check for updates like this.

  • Update iPhone, iPad: Open Settings app > Tap General > Software Update > Download and Install Software Update.
  • Update Mac: Click on Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update > Download and Install Software Update.

8. Sign Out and Sign In to FaceTime

This is only for Mac. You can sign out of Apple ID from FaceTime and sign in back. If there’s an issue with Apple ID and FaceTime, doing this will work and fix the green screen on FaceTime easily.

  1. In your Mac, launch FaceTime.
  2. Click on Preferences in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Sign Out.
  4. Restart the Mac.
  5. Follow the same steps, and Sign In back to FaceTime.

9. Set Date & Time to Automatically

Date and Time play a vital role in Apple Services like FaceTime, Messages, and more. That’s the reason why you should set the correct date and time according to your current location to use FaceTime without errors.

In iPhone/iPad:

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Select Date & Time.
  4. Choose Set Automatically.

In Mac:

  1. Click on the Apple icon.
  2. Select System Preferences.
  3. Go to Date & Time.
  4. Choose Set Automatically.
