Best WatchOS 7 Features You Should Know and Try

Tip 1: Enable Reduce Loud Sounds

The Reduce Loud Sounds are specially focused to prevent hearing disabilities, when a person listens to anything at 80dB for an entire week for at least 40 hours, he/she can lose hearing or may have serious damage.

So using these settings you can control the sound level while using AirPods, AirPods Pro, or any other compatible headphone. Even if you do turn up the sound level exceeding the limit, Apple Watch won’t allow.

Here’s the detailed guide on How to Limit Loud Sound in Headphones on Apple Watch watchOS 7.

  1. On your Apple Watch, press the Digital Crown button to bring the applications on the screen.
  2. Find the Settings app, and tap on it.
  3. Swipe down to the Sounds & Haptics.
  4. Under Headphone Audio, you should see the Reduce Loud Sounds.
  5. Toggle ON Reduce Loud Sounds.
  6. Also set the Sound Decibel Level, to 80Db or lower, to stay safe.

Tip 2: Turn Off Sleep Tracking without Turning Off Sleep Mode

Sleep Tracking and Sleep Mode on watchOS 7 are different, but awfully useful, and you can’t avoid them; being devoted to fitness, I can’t get off this feature. The Sleep Tracking data is transmitted to the Health App of iPhone, right from the Apple Watch. And if you’re unable to stay on track on special occasions or on weekends, I bet, you know what will be the result in the Health app. All those records, you have made for months will be destroyed due to one or two days.

Under such cases, turning off sleep tracking is recommended. This way, one can enjoy different schedules like for Weekdays and for Weekends without ruining the sleep goals. While the Sleep Mode will continue to work, with a “Sleep Well” Message in a dimmed lock screen.

  1. Go to the Settings app on Apple Watch.
  2. Scroll down and tap on the Sleep app.
  3. Swipe down to the Sleep Tracking.

There’s a setting in the iPhone’s Watch app, using which you can control which Notifications you wish to receive on Apple Watch as well. Of course, we’ll not make any exceptions, after spending money on Apple Watch, why not make the most out of it. At the same time, raising the wrist in a public place, and reading sensitive notification is like announcing your private life to unknown peoples.

Instead, hide the Notification Details, and only know the app name from which notification is received. So, unless you tap on that notification, it won’t open up the details on the lock screen.

  2. Tap on the My Watch tab.
  3. Select the Notifications option.
  4. Toggle ON Notifications Privacy.

  3. Tap Background App Refresh.
  4. Scroll down the Apps to Enable or Disable the Background App Refresh per-app basis.

Private MAC Address feature is also added in the iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 compatible devices, alongside the Apple Watch. When you enable the MAC Address on the Apple devices, it prevents the service provider from tracking down your Apple Watch. Though it is enabled by default.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on the Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi network on which your Apple Watch is connected.
  4. Toggle ON Private MAC.

Tip 7: Optimised Battery Charging

The Optimised Battery Charging feature was earlier introduced with the iOS 13, to maintain the battery health of the iPhone. When you enable the Optimised Battery Charging, your Apple Watch will learn the usage patterns, and depending on that, it’ll charge your Apple Watch to 100% in optimal time. This will help increase the battery life of the Apple Watch.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Swipe down and tap on Battery.
