I just updated my iPhone to iOS 26, and after spending some hours exploring, I’ve found a few settings changes that really make the new update feel smoother, safer, and more personalized. If you’ve upgraded too, here are the tweaks you should do right now to get the best out of your phone.

- Pick a Spatial Scene wallpaper.
- Tilt your phone to see the subtle 3D effect.
- Tweak App Icon Style
- Go to Settings → Home Screen & App Library.
- Choose from Standard, Tinted, or Clear icons to match your wallpaper theme.

- Block Spam Calls
- Stay in Settings → Apps – Phone.
- Turn on Identify & Filter Spam.
- Limit App Tracking & Location
- Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and toggle it off.
- Go to Location Services and set unused apps to Never or While Using.
STEP 3 — Enable Translation & Messaging Tools

- Go to Settings → Apps – Messages → Live Translation.
- Turn it on for real-time language translation.
- Customize Message Backgrounds
- Open the Messages app.
- Select a chat → tap Contact Name → Customize Chat → Background.
- Pick a soft or minimal background to reduce eye strain.
STEP 4 — Adjust Interface & Visual Tools
- Use Visual Intelligence on Screenshots
- Take a screenshot → tap the preview → tap the Visual Intelligence icon.
- It will scan text, links, and products for quick actions.
- Change Safari Tab Layout
- Go to Settings → Apps – Safari → Tabs.
- Choose Compact Tab Bar for less clutter, or Separate Tab Bar for the classic look.
STEP 5 — Refresh Sounds, Alarms & Ringtones
- Pick a New Ringtone
- Go to Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone.
- Try one of the new Reflection tones.
- Set Custom Alarm Snooze
