When will Apple Stop Supporting iPhone 8?

Last Updated on Feb 26, 2020

In this article, I’ll share my thoughts on how long will iPhone 8 be supported and should you buy iPhone 8 in 2020? At first, I’d like to remind you that Apple announced the iPhone 8 in September 2017 alongside the major iOS 11 update, which is roughly two years. And with the release of new iPhone and iPad, Apple cuts out the list of latest iOS supporting device, like when iOS 13 was released, iPhone 6, iPhone 6Plus and iPhone 5S lose the support of iOS 13, this is how Apple’s criteria works.

Many of you already know about this and also made predictions on whether iPhone 8 will support the iOS 14 or say the latest iOS or the latest iOS compatibility list. Apple iPhone nerds always want to explore the newest features of iOS, so before making any decision on should I purchase iPhone (7, 8, XR, X) or gather few bucks and wait for the latest iPhone launching this fall.

When will Apple Stop Supporting iPhone 8?

Another reason why many users prefer to buy iPhones is, Apple provides the latest update support for almost five years on an average, which is ridiculous when compared to Android phones. If we look at the old records then your iPhone 8 will support the latest iOS for up to 5 years which means, starting from 2017 to 2022 or 2021, we don’t have any official statement by Apple so, if you are unlucky Apple will probably stop supporting iPhone 8 in 2021.

Can I Use iPhone 8 in 2020?

As I said according to predictions based on past year patterns of supporting iPhone by Apple, the iPhone 8 will receive the latest iOS updates till 2021 or probably in 2022. So, its just one or two year game, if you don’t have more money currently and don’t need advanced features and camera quality like the iPhone 11 lineup or iPhone XS/XR have, then stay with the iPhone 8.

If I compare the price of iPhone 8 with other models, then iPhone 8 costs around $449, iPhone XR $599 and the latest iPhone 11 is $699, around there is $100 difference between all the iPhone models.

Now it’s up to you whether to buy the iPhone 8 in 2020 or spend more money on the latest iPhone 11 or XR and enjoy the latest iOS for one more year.

I’ve also compared the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR, you should probably read that article too, it will help make you a better decision.

When will Apple Stop Supporting iPhone 8?

Yes, definitely Apple will cut out the iPhone 8, but in 2021 or 2022, but there’s a time left of around one/two more years to enjoy the support of the latest iOS on iPhone 8.
