Can You Turn Off Liquid Glass in iOS 26 on iPhone? Get an Answer

Answer: Yes — you can turn it off completely, and it only takes a few seconds.

When I first updated my iPhone 16 Pro Max to iOS 26, the Liquid Glass effect instantly stood out. It adds a smooth, fluid-like blur and depth effect to system panels, widgets, and wallpapers, making everything look like it’s covered with a layer of glass. It’s visually stunning, but if you prefer a clean, flat, or more performance-friendly look, you can disable it.

Steps to Disable Liquid Glass on Your iPhone

Here’s how I did it on my device:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Accessibility.
  3. Tap Display & Text Size.
  4. Scroll down and turn on Reduce Transparency.

As soon as I toggled Reduce Transparency, the Liquid Glass effect vanished — panels, widgets, and Control Center went back to a solid, flat background without any blur or glassy glow.

Bonus Tip: This also slightly improves battery life and performance because your iPhone stops rendering the real-time blur animations behind panels.

Important Note: There isn’t a separate toggle named “Liquid Glass” in iOS 26, so disabling it through Reduce Transparency is currently the only way to turn it off. You can always come back and turn it off again to restore the glass effect.

If you find the effect distracting, this is a quick way to return to a simpler look — and if this helped you, share it with friends who’ve updated to iOS 26 too.
