Breaking News: Grade 1 Star Muth Welcomes His First Foal — A New Year’s Filly at Gainesway

Muth, who made headlines on the track as a top-class performer at both two and three, now takes his first step into the next phase of his legacy. The filly is out of Marlinspike, a winning daughter of Tapit, and she carries a deep and accomplished female pedigree. Marlinspike traces back to elite company, being a daughter of Surfside, the Eclipse Award–winning champion of 2000, and a granddaughter of Flanders, the 1994 Eclipse champion juvenile filly.

Adding further black-type depth, the newborn filly is a half-sister to Bullet, a multiple stakes winner by War Front, giving her a pedigree that blends elite dirt influence with proven versatility.

Muth himself entered the spotlight long before stepping onto the racetrack. He was the $2 million topper at the 2023 OBS March Sale, immediately signaling high expectations. Those expectations were more than justified. Racing for Zedan Racing, Muth earned “Rising Star” status and went on to capture two major Grade 1 victories — the American Pharoah Stakes and the Arkansas Derby — establishing himself as one of the most exciting colts of his generation.

Now standing at Gainesway, Muth has quickly generated interest among breeders looking for a stallion with both elite race credentials and commercial appeal. He is set to stand his second season in 2026 at a fee of $30,000, a reflection of continued confidence in his long-term potential.

While it will be years before Muth’s first foal reaches the racetrack, the arrival of this filly represents an encouraging beginning. With a powerful blend of championship bloodlines on both sides of her pedigree and a sire proven at the highest level, she offers an early glimpse into what could be the next chapter of success for Muth — this time through his offspring.

As the breeding season unfolds, all eyes will be on how Muth’s first crop develops, but for now, the New Year’s filly stands as a symbolic and promising start to his stallion career.
