Ever since I updated my MacBook Pro to macOS 26 Tahoe, there’s been this super annoying barrage of battery notifications once I dip below 10%. I swear: every minute or so, my Mac flashes a message saying “Please plug in your Mac” or something to that effect. It’s like being nagged by an over-anxious parent.
I’ve gone through all the settings on my MacBook Pro — Notification Center, Battery settings, System Settings → Battery, and even dug into Advanced menus. No toggle to disable these low battery alerts. Nothing. Just the standard settings (volume, Do Not Disturb, etc.), but nothing that stops the reminders when the battery drops low.
What I Learned from the Tech Discussions
I checked my MacBook Pro M2— Can’t find a Way to Stop Battery Notifications in macOS 26 Tahoe.
- Many users are confirming the same issue: what used to be a single alert when the battery hits ~10% has now become a repeated, constant alert once it’s under that threshold.
- Some are getting alerts even at ~11% or slightly above, so it seems the triggering threshold might be fuzzy.
- One user pointed out: there is currently no setting in macOS Tahoe’s Notification Center or Battery preferences to disable this behavior. It’s built-in and not controllable via the GUI.
Part of me wonders if Apple is keeping this new persistent low-battery alert behavior in macOS 26 Tahoe as groundwork for something bigger.
What if future Macs ship with a built-in Dynamic Island-style notification area, just like on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer?
I could totally see Apple redesigning battery alerts to appear there — sleek little banners like “Low Battery — Plug in soon to recharge” that quietly slide in without interrupting your workflow.
It feels like Apple might be laying the foundation now… and when they finally bring Dynamic Island-style UI to Macs, these battery notifications will fit right in.

What You Should Do (Because I Checked & Couldn’t Find It)
Since I couldn’t disable the alerts, here are the steps I think everyone who’s bothered by this should take:
- Submit Feedback to Apple
- Go to Apple > Feedback (or via the Apple Feedback site) and file a bug/feature request titled something like “Toggle to disable low-battery notification repeats in macOS Tahoe.”
- The more people report this, the more likely Apple will consider adding a toggle in a future update.
- Check for macOS Updates Often
- Sometimes Apple quietly adds settings in minor updates when many users complain. Keep your Mac updated.
- Use Workarounds While Waiting
- Keep battery above 10% as much as possible if you know you’ll want silence.
- Maybe use Do Not Disturb / Focus Mode so notifications are suppressed during times you don’t want to be disturbed.
- Enable low brightness, close background apps — anything that reduces battery drain so you don’t hit thresholds urgently.
Bottom Line
It’s pretty frustrating that something many users consider a “user preference” isn’t adjustable in macOS Tahoe — at least not yet. I checked my MacBook Pro thoroughly and saw no setting to stop these repeated battery alerts.
If you’re with me on this — finding your battery alerts ridiculous below 10% — please take two minutes to submit feedback to Apple. The more people request a toggle, the better chance this becomes a feature instead of just a nag. It would be great if Apple added a switch in System Settings so we can choose how often (or if) these low-battery reminders show up.
