Frankly, there is no way we can make any assumptions about how many years will iPhone 12 be supported and the last iOS update by Apple for iPhone 12. Despite that, we’ll still track past statistics of Apple about compatibility and give you an idea about how long iPhone 12 will receive updates and be supported by Apple. Our best guess is iPhone 12 will be continuing to receive major iOS updates by 2024 or 2025, which could be iOS 18 or iOS 19.
It’s weird, but iPhone 6 was launched in 2014, and received an update in January 2021; it was a real shock for everyone; after six years of launch, Apple pushed a new update for iPhone 6, and that also happened with iPhone 5S, which was launched in 2013. So looking at these records, it’s tough to predict when will iPhone 12 stop receiving updates.
Over and above that, iPhone 12 is compatible with 5G, which makes sense; you don’t need to replace iPhone 12 with any other smartphone in the upcoming three or four to get hands-on 5G Speed. If you do not need to upgrade the iPhone to get 5G, the iPhone 12 will be worth keeping for three or four years without spending new money unless it is damaged.

We’ve also noticed that once Apple stops releasing updates for iPhone, the app developers will give you two more years, for the updates for Applications, and that too will be stopped after two years. So we are talking about six to seven years of updates, including significant iOS and App Updates.
If Apple doesn’t surprise us, you could expect iPhone 12 to receive updates by 2024 or 2025.
