From any type of picture format, you can set on the folder as an icon. Supported picture format .jpg, .png, .gif, and any other also. it’s easy to change mac desktop background.
Steps for Customize folder on Mac: macOS Catalina, macOS High Sierra, Mac OS EI Capitan, Mac OS X Yosemite, Capitan, Sierra with a Picture icon
Step 1: Go to the Folder, for that you have to set a picture or icon in the folder. Or create a new folder for the test.
Step 2: Now, Open the picture in preview by right click on it.
Step 3: From the Top tab menu, Go to the Edit > Select all
Step 4: Again Go to the Edit > Copy.
Step 5: Next, Right click on Folder when you want to set copied picture in Step 4. > Get info
Step 6: Now, Click on folder icon inside get info popup from the top.
Step 7: Then, Go To the Edit > Paste.
Want to apply for another folder, Repeat above steps again for that folder.
Set Default icon on a folder: Remove picture icon from the folder
Select Folder Right-click on it > Get info > Choose a small folder from the top.
Now your changed folder icon move looks into the default folder where you want.
