Whilst using WhatsApp, we forget to check the basics and end up with multiple problems. Let’s see how to fix unable to send voice notes on WhatsApp and get back the audio of your WhatsApp.

Free solutions to fix WhatsApp Microphone Not Working

Solution 1: Allow Mic to Record Voice Messages on iPhone and Android

To keep up the security of your smartphones, the permissions to use Microphone, Access Photos, Record Videos, and much other permission are needed. So, that now you are stuck with WhatsApp microphone not working, make sure the microphone settings are enabled.

On the iOS device,

  1. Navigate to the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and Tap on WhatsApp.
  3. Toggle On Microphone.
Open Settings App Tap on Whatsapp Enable Microphone on iPhone

On Android,

  1. Launch the Settings App on your Android phone.
  2. Tap on Apps. Sometimes it may be Apps & notifications, depending upon devices.
  3. Find and Tap on WhatsApp.
Open Settings Tap on Apps Select WhatsApp on Android
  1. Select Permissions.

For other iPhones: Press and hold the Home button and Sleep/Wake button and release it when the Apple logo displays on the screen.

To restart Android,

  • Press and hold the Lock/Unlock button and choose Restart when the Power menu comes.

Solution 3: Delete Third-Party Recording Apps

If WhatsApp microphone not working just after downloading any third-party application on your iPhone or Android, then consider it as a culprit and delete it. Most of the time, the screen recording or other recording apps affects the WhatsApp and doesn’t let you record voice messages.

Alternatively, you can also disable the third-party recording apps and try to send voice messages over WhatsApp, still, if you can’t use the microphone, delete the apps and then give one more try.

Solution 4: Check the Screen Protector

With the help of the proximity sensor of your device, WhatsApp lets you hear voice notes right through the earpiece. Many users didn’t know about this unique feature of WhatsApp and cover the proximity sensor mistakenly with the screen protector. Usually, the proximity sensor turns the screen black while it is covered by any object, just like you have observed while talking someone on calls.

Make sure the screen protector isn’t covering the proximity sensor of your iPhone or Android device, and if you feel, dust, then bring clean cloth and wipe out the dirt from the screen. Otherwise, there’s only one option left for you, remove the screen protector. But I would rather suggest you move to the next solution and if nothing works then remove the screen protector and try to record voice messages on WhatsApp.

Solution 5: Make sure the Volume is High

The sound level while using the headphone and without headphones is totally different and doesn’t depend on each other. That’s why, check the sound of the iPhone as well as Android phone, after removing the headset or while using the earphone.

Solution 6: Update WhatsApp

Before taking any hard step, have you updated the WhatsApp to the latest version? Sometimes, we were busy teasing our smartphone, and later realize that WhatsApp is down or the outdated version is not supported.

Therefore, always keep all the applications updated.

For iPhone users,

  1. Launch the App Store on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on the Profile icon at the Top-Right Corner of the Screen.
Open App Store Select Profile icon on iPhone
  1. Tap on Update All Section.
  2. Tap on Update next to the WhatsApp Messenger.
Select Update Section for Whatsapp Messenger to Update on iPhone

While Android users can do the same but from Google Play.

  1. Launch the Google Play Store App on your Android Phone.
  2. Tap on the Search Bar at the top of the Screen.
  3. Search WhatsApp and Tap on Update Next to the WhatsApp Messenger.
Open Play Store Tap on Search bar Search WhatsApp Tap on update on Android

Solution 7: Check Storage of iPhone and Android

When WhatsApp shows Sorry this audio cannot be loaded, please try again later, while download the voice message from WhatsApp, leave everything and delete the photos, videos, and applications that are no longer useful for you.

Besides, when iPhone or Android phone running on low storage, the message directly hits up at the notification bar, indicating to make some space or you may face interruption while using apps.

Solution 8: Clear Cache

Since the iOS device doesn’t have a Clear Cache option but does have Documents & Data, however, deleting Documents & Data can remove all the data of your WhatsApp, so you won’t do that. So, iPhone users skip this step and Android ones follow the steps.

  1. Launch the Settings App on your Android Phone.
  2. Tap on Apps.
  3. Find and Select WhatsApp.
Open Settings Tap on Apps Select WhatsApp on Android
  1. Tap on Storage.
  2. Lastly, Tap Clear Cache From the Bottom of the Screen.
Select WhatsApp Tap Clear Cache on Android

Solution 9: Reinstall WhatsApp

Backup the WhatsApp chats to drive, and then delete the app. I hope you know how to install WhatsApp.
