Do you remember the last year’s update? For the first time, Apple has added Settings App on the CarPlay, to easily operate Do Not Disturb While Driving, and several other modifications right from the CarPlay dashboard. Continuing the same tradition, this fall Apple has made CarPlay interface more accessible and customizable by allowing us to change the Wallpaper of CarPlay Dashboard. When it comes to wallpaper, iPhone and CarPlay are a bit similar, both have Dark Appearance, and so the wallpapers need to be dynamic in order to integrate with the rich display.
iOS 14 or later brings a set of new wallpapers for CarPlay, that works with Dark Appearance as well as Light Mode, though, the CarPlay is always set to Dark Appearance by default, tweak settings to Automatic Appearance, this would be better when you set the light wallpaper. Try out one by one.
How to Set CarPlay Wallpaper?
Use the CarPlay’s Settings App to set CarPlay wallpaper.
- Go to the Settings App in Carplay, while your iPhone is connected to CarPlay and CarPlay is on.
- Tap on the Wallpaper
- You can preview the Wallpaper before setting it, do it and lastly set wallpaper on CarPlay.
After setting up your CarPlay wallpaper, if you want to change it ever, follow the same steps and at the end choose the new wallpaper to set.
Change the Appearance to Automatic Appearance
By default, the CarPlay is set to Dark Appearance; change it to Automatic Appearance.
- Navigate to the Settings App on CarPlay, while your iPhone is connected to CarPlay and CarPlay is on.
- Tap Appearance. and select from “Always” or “Always Dark“.
- Set it to Automatic Appearance.
CarPlay Wallpaper is Custom, or Can we only choose amongst Apple’s Pre-installed CarPlay Wallpapers?
We all know that iOS’s biggest CarPlay update is Wallpaper, isn’t it? Apparently, the iOS does not have any option to set the custom wallpaper in the CarPlay, as of now, use the pre-installed wallpapers provided by Apple.
