Fix Grammarly Not Showing in MS Word On Mac Sonoma

Solution #1. Grammarly Not Showing on Mac

Solution #2. Check Internet

Solution #3. Check Grammarly Server Is Not Down

Solution #4. Force Quit Word Application

The practical solution – try force quitting the Microsoft Word application. From now on, a minor bug within the application can sometimes prevent the add-ins from working usually. To do so, select Apple Logo > Force Quit. Then, from the list, search and select Microsoft Word and choose Force Quit Button. That’s It! 

Solution #5. Force Quit Grammarly From Activity Monitor

Try force-quitting Grammarly from an activity monitor. For this, follow the steps below.

  1. Press Command + Space.
  2. Enter Activity Monitor in Spotlight Search.
  3. Click on Activity Monitor from the result to open it.

Now enter Grammarly in the Search Bar on the top right corner of the screen. Next, click on Grammarly to highlight it. Next, choose the X Icon at the top of the window.

Solution #6. Check Microsoft Word Isn’t Blocked By Grammarly Desktop For Mac

If you have installed the Mac Grammarly Desktop app, you might have blocked the word and forgotten to unblock it. To check if this isn’t a reason for Grammarly not working in Word on Mac, follow the steps below.

  1. Click on the Grammarly Icon from the menu bar.
  2. Choose Settings…

Now, search and click the Remove Button next to Microsoft Word. Re-open Microsoft word, and your issue will get fixed.

Solution #7. Check On Another App 

Is Grammarly not working on Microsoft Word or all other applications on Mac? First of all, verify it. For instance, open the Pages and check if Grammarly is integrated with it. If yes, next, jot down the short note and verify Grammarly finding your errors. If yes, this means the issue lies within Microsoft Word. Finally, try reinstalling Microsoft Word on Mac. 

Delete Microsoft Word,

  1. Select Launch Pad from the Mac Dock.
  2. Search and long-click on the Microsoft Word app icon. It will highlight the X Icon on App Icon. Select it.
  3. You will receive the prompt “Are You Sure You Want To Delete Microsoft Word.” Click on Delete Button. 

Reinstall Microsoft Word App,

  1. Go to the App Store.
  2. Search for Microsoft Word in the search bar.
  3. From the result, click on the Microsoft Word Download Button.

Let the download procedure get finished. Once it’s finished, open the application. If it’s a Grammarly Add-In, re-login to it, and your issue will get fixed. 

Solution #8. Remove And Re-Add Grammarly Add-In Or Desktop App

If Grammarly isn’t working with other applications too, it means the issue lies within Grammarly. Considering the minor bug behind the problem, you must try removing and re-adding Grammarly in Microsoft Word. 

Remove Grammarly Add-In 

  1. Open Microsoft Word and create a new file.
  2. Click on the Insert from the Toolbar.
  3. Select Add-Ins. Further click on the My Add-Ins.
  4. Now, select More Settings next to the Grammarly Add-In. Lastly, choose Remove.

Remove Grammarly Desktop App

  1. Click on Finder from the Mac Dock. Choose Applications from the left sidebar.
  2. Search and right-click on the Grammarly Desktop App.
  3.  From the drop-down, select Move To Trash. 

If the application is open in the background, you will receive an error pop-up saying The Item “Grammarly Desktop” Can’t Be Moved To Bin Because It’s Open. Click OK. Select Grammarly Icon from the menu bar, and choose Quit. Re-follow Steps 1-3.

Solution #9. Sign-Out And Sign-In Back Grammarly Account

There might be an issue with an Account preventing the Grammarly application from working with Microsoft Word. Considering it as the culprit, we suggest Signing-out and signing it back. To do so, follow the steps below.

Sign-Out Grammarly Add-Ins

  1. Open Microsoft Word and create a New file.
  2. Once you do, select Grammarly from the Microsoft Toolbar.
  3. Select Open Grammarly.
  4. Now, choose Settings Gear Icon from the bottom right corner. And select Log Out.

Sign-In Grammarly Add-Ins

  1.  Now choose Log In To Grammarly.
  2. And then select the preferred way to Sing-In. For instance, Sign-In With Apple ID.
  3. Enter your Apple ID credentials. Follow on-screen instructions. That’s It!

Sign-Out Grammarly Desktop

  1. Click on the Grammarly Icon from the menu bar.
  2. Choose Settings…
  3. Navigate and click Account Menu.
  4. Lastly, select Sign-Out Button. After this, close the window.

Sign-In Grammarly Desktop

  1. Click on the Grammarly Icon from the menu bar.
  2. Choose Settings…
  3. Select Sign-In Button.

From the next screen, select Continue To Grammarly. Next, choose Open Grammarly > Open Grammarly Desktop. Here we end up.
